Kim Peretti, partner and co-chair of the firm’s Security Incident Management and Response Team, will moderate a panel discussion during this September 11 event. The featured speakers are Tom Finan, Senior Cybersecurity Strategist and Counsel with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and Sean Hyatt, counsel in the firm’s Litigation & Trial Practice Group and a member of the Insurance Litigation & Regulation Team.
The Department of Homeland Security has taken an active role in the growing interest in cyber insurance, holding several public roundtables and workshops since October 2012 to examine the ability of insurance carriers to offer relevant cyber risk coverage. The latest insurance industry working session occurred in April and was followed by a Readout Report issued this summer addressing key issues related to insurance for cyber-related critical infrastructure loss. We are pleased to host this discussion with Tom Finan, a member of the DHS team intimately involved in these workshops and reports. In our discussion, we will address key issues and challenges with the evolving cyber insurance market, including a summary of the latest Readout Report findings, differences with critical infrastructure and non-critical infrastructure markets, first-party vs. third-party cybersecurity insurance coverage, the importance of cybersecurity coverage from a legal perspective and practical considerations in obtaining the appropriate coverage for your organization.
