Jim Harvey, co-chair of the firm’s Privacy & Data Security practice and the Security Incident Management and Response Team, will participate as a presenter at the 2014 IAPP Global Privacy Summit, March 5-7. The IAPP Summit, one of the largest in the world, hosts privacy and security professionals to focus on a range of privacy-related topics.
On Thursday, March 6 at 10:45am EST, Mr. Harvey will present with co-speaker Michael Bruemmer, Vice President of Experian Data Breach Resolution, on the topic “Cross-border Data Breach Response: The Next Frontier.” The presentation will be streaming live and real-time comments or questions are welcomed for submission via Twitter. Mr. Harvey and Mr. Bruemmer will discuss current data breach laws outside the U.S., including sector-specific regulations, European Union laws and how they’ll impact American companies, and which countries have strict regulation versus voluntary guidelines. They will also explore the practical issues involved in conducting an international data breach investigation, operational elements of international data breach response, and how an international breach response differs from a domestic data breach response.
